Every atom that makes up your body was created inside from a star before Earth was even born. We are all made up of stardust.
Starchitects is an interactive galaxy created through a collection of stars made by visitors after taking a quiz and learning their Starchetype.
The Starchetypes
There are 8 Starchetypes that a visitor can be assigned, all with their own unique characteristics!
Web App
Through our web app, visitors can take a short quiz and learn their given Starchetype, customize it to reflect their shine, and send it off into our galaxy!
Unreal Galaxy
After sending their star off, visitors can see their own stars in a collective galaxy, then interact with them via the web app!
Custom Stars
Which star are you?
After a visitor completes the quiz in the web app, they will receive one of these Starchetypes that best show their shine. Below is a closer look at each individual star and what they represent.
The Innovator
The Thinker
The Disciplined
The Visionary
The Producer
The Dreamer
The Independent
The Listener
How does your star shine?
In addition to changing the color of their star, visitors were given 3 different "shine" particle styles to choose from. These shines left a trail as their star navigated the galaxy.
Imagine RIT
Star Creation
At Imagine RIT, we witnessed the creation of our universe as our guests created over 700 stars!
Exhibit Walkthrough
Star Data
Out of the hundreds of stars made, we saw a lot of variation in Starchetypes among our visitors. Overall, The Dreamer was the most popular star that visitors were being assigned!
Our Process
Pipeline
In order to get our project working, we performed a lot of tests. The key factor for our project working was the exchange between our web app and the visitor's customized star and our unreal galaxy. We used MongoDB and React for the web app.
Starchetypes
The Starchetypes were a primary part for the experience of our visitors, and we went through a few iterations for them for both design and optimization purposes.
Unreal Galaxy
Our galaxy is made using Unreal Engine, and our past iterations have played with more graphic and realistic styles.
